Thank You for Your Support - What a Great Race that Was!

Last Sunday, I completed the Nation's Triathlon. Not only was this a huge accomplishment for me physically, but with your help, I raised over $2600 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Leading up to the event, I was so nervous, wondering if I will make a good time, if something will go wrong, if I have prepared enough. This was my very first triathlon and before I started training three months ago, I haven't swam since 6th grade or rode a bike since my bike accident at 19.

Inevitably, things did go wrong... I slid on the dismount area and fell on my bike and the wheels wouldn't rotate after that. So I carried my bike to the rack and continued. My running shoes were tied too tight and were a struggle to slip on, but I pushed through. My stomach got all cramped up during the run from all the sugary power bars and gels and Gatorade, but I continued. And even with the things that did go wrong and the things I didn't prepare well enough for, I smiled right through it - and I am proud of how well I did! I swam strong, 36th out of 176 in my age group. I rode well and ran well too....my total time being 3:13:49!

But even more, I am proud to have helped cancer patients who struggles far surpass anything I have ever faced. Their financial and physical pain ... and the simple hope for another day to live ... it's all something where we as a society come together to help. And I am proud that you, me, and the whole Nation's Triathlon team have helped raise over $2.4 million for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Thank you for being a great part of this journey and helping to bring support to those in need and hopefully a near end to cancer! Thank you again,

 Heather

Heather's Triathlon Training Progress

Hello everyone – Just a quick update on my progress and to let you all know that time is running out (pun intended) to donate if you haven't already done so. The Nation’s Triathlon is only a few weeks away and I haven’t quite met my fundraising minimum. FUNDRAISING PROGRESS
Thursday is the deadline for me to raise at least $2400 in order to compete. I have been training about 12 hours every week for the past three months just so I can complete the race, now I just need a few more donations be allowed to even compete. Hopefully, I will be able to raise much more than just the minimum!

All donations benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) - helping patients in need and helping to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Thank you to everyone that has donated. Your support means a lot to me and so much more to those fighting cancer! If you have not donated yet, please use the link in this email to donate online today. You will receive a confirmation of your donation by email and I will be notified as soon as you make your donation.

 TRAINING PROGRESS
Today I swam a mile in open water for the first time. This was also my first time swimming in a wet suit. (whew, putting on a wet suit is tough!) Now I am heading out to do my longest brick workout 140 minutes biking then a 50 minute run after that. This is one of the more challenging days before we compete in the Olympic triathlon on September 13th! I feel so proud of my personal progress and even more proud to be supporting such a great cause. On behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, thank you very much for your support. I greatly appreciate your generosity.

Help Us Save Lives

Hi there,

I have just challenged myself to compete in the Nation's Triathlon in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. With your help, I hope to raise over $2400 for the cause ...ambitious, I know! But not quite as ambitious as Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, who hopes to have all blood cancers curable by 2015!! And with your generous support, you can help make this happen.

Visit my Team in Training page to donate online quickly and securely plus learn more about my progress. You will receive a confirmation of your donation by email and I will be notified as soon as you make your donation.
